Ground Control: free tech programs for youth in Ontario.
Ground Control is our free virtual afterschool program. Learners do not just sit through lessons. Across three courses they build games, apps, and AI projects, and they leave with something they can point to.
These are not just classes. They are entry points.
Each program is meant to meet a different kind of learner: someone just getting curious, someone ready to experiment, or someone trying to turn interest into direction. The top-level program pages give you the structure. The detail pages show the shape of the experience.
Built for different starting points
Not every learner arrives with the same confidence, exposure, or support. Our programs are designed around that reality.
Project-based by default
We want learners building, testing, presenting, and making decisions, not just listening to explanations.
Meant to feel like pathways
The goal is not one interesting session. The goal is momentum, support, and a clearer sense of where someone can go next.
How Ground Control works
One program, three courses, two levels.
Every Thursday, three courses
One free registration enrols a learner in all three courses. Math, Coding, and AI run back to back every Thursday evening, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM ET, and the whole program is virtual.
Two levels, real curriculum
Cadets in grades 2 to 5 and Commanders in grade 6 and up each run their own version of every course. The curriculum is genuinely different at each level, not one lesson watered down.
Ends with a showcase
The final week is a Show and Tell Showcase. Every Nova presents what they built to families and the rest of the crew.
Math 101: Mission Control
Applied problem solving that goes beyond the classroom. Learners work through logic puzzles, pattern recognition, math in games, and an early introduction to financial literacy.
Coding 101: Code Crew
Every learner builds something real they can show off. Cadets ship a playable Roblox game, and Commanders build a working mobile app.
AIAI Project Lab
Learners come to understand AI, not just use it. They build prompt literacy, learn to spot bias and errors, and finish with a hands on AI project.
Getting started
One registration covers all three courses.
You do not pick and choose. A single free registration enrols the learner in Math, Coding, and AI, each at the right level for their grade. Cadets in grades 2 to 5 and Commanders in grade 6 and up get their own version of every course.
